What actually happens in your first reflexology session
If you have never booked a reflexology session, here is the whole thing, start to finish, with nothing left vague.
Not knowing what a place will be like is a good enough reason not to book. So here is a first visit to Kyochi Fairlands described plainly, from arriving to leaving.
Before you arrive
Book ahead if you can, particularly for an evening. Drink a glass of water. Wear something you are comfortable sitting in for an hour. You stay fully clothed for the entire session apart from your feet, so what you wear matters only for your own comfort.
If you are managing a health condition, are pregnant, or have had a recent injury or surgery to your feet or legs, speak with your doctor beforehand and plan to mention it when you arrive.
The first few minutes
You will be asked a short set of questions: whether anything hurts, whether there is anywhere to avoid, whether you have had reflexology before, and how firm you like pressure. Answer honestly, including about pressure. Therapists would far rather adjust at the start than have you endure something politely for an hour.
Your feet are then cleaned and warmed, and you settle into a reclining chair.
During the session
Your therapist works through the foot in a deliberate sequence rather than rubbing broadly across it. Pressure is applied to specific points and held, then released. It is slower and more methodical than a massage.
Some points will feel tender. That is normal and usually passes in seconds. If anything is genuinely uncomfortable, say so as it happens. Nothing in the session is something you are meant to tolerate.
You do not have to talk. Most guests stop talking within the first few minutes, and quite a few fall asleep. Neither is a problem.
Our therapists
Many Kyochi therapists are visually impaired professionals trained in the discipline of foot reflexology. They work by touch with considerable precision, which is the whole basis of the craft.
If you have not been to a centre like this before, the practical answer is that nothing about the session is different from what is described above.
Afterwards
Get up slowly. Drink water. Avoid heading straight into anything strenuous. A slow walk suits the hour after a session better than a gym visit does.
Some people feel immediately lighter, some feel pleasantly sleepy, and some feel not much at all the first time and considerably more the second. All three are ordinary.
What it costs
A 30-minute Relaxation session is Rs. 500 and a 60-minute session is Rs. 700. Every service and duration is listed on our pricing page with no packages and nothing hidden.
Kyochi Foot Reflexology is a wellness and relaxation service. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care. If you have a health condition, consult your doctor before booking.
